    Description

A wonderful antique signed Dutch Royal Delft (De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles) blue and white charger, by the Joost Thooft & Labouchere company, dated to 1895. The De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles delft company is the only factory to have been producing Delft porcelain without interruption since it opened almost 370 years ago. In 1876 Joost Thooft bought the factory with the aim of reviving Dutch Delft which had been flagging in popularity during the 19th century. The company was awarded the term 'Royal' in its name by the Dutch Royal Family just after World War I and its relationship with the House of Orange has remained close to this day. This very striking and large 15.5 inch Dutch Delft blue and white porcelain charger made by Joost Thooft & Labouchier of the De Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft) factory shows a wonderful scene of a cottage and kneeling figure by a tree lined scenic river, the charger edged with lovely scrolling floral work and all decorated in an incredibly vivid cobalt blue. The scene is after a painting by Frederick Jacobus van Rossum du Chattel (Dutch, 1856-1917), an artist famous for his bucolic works. The reverse is impressed 'Joost Thooft & Labouchier' with the painted De Porceleyne Fles urn above 'Delft', date letter 'q' for 1895 and artist 'AG' for Andreas Petrus Guerain. The charger has wire in place and is ready to hang if desired. The charger measures approximately 15 1/2 inches wide and about 2 inches high. The charger is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. There is the usual light all over crazing. Thanks for looking and please take a look at my other items!

    Terms of Sale
    TERMS OF SALE & RETURNS
We make great efforts to honestly and accurately describe each item we list. We back this up with many photographs, all with a close-up zoom option for detailed inspection. Due to the majority of our items being antique/vintage and often unique it can be difficult to determine age and as such all our items are sold 'as is'. However, if we are not certain about the age of an item we will either not mention an age or say the item is being sold as a later or modern piece and then leave it up to more experienced buyers to determine the exact age. Items are not returnable if it was not of the age/value you were hoping it to be with no exceptions. If we place a date on an item we guarantee it to be of that period or earlier. If you require further pictures or more information about an item, please let us know prior to bidding or purchase. Items cannot be returned for any condition issues either shown in the pictures or mentioned in the listing. As many items we sell are one hundred years or older we will not accept returns for wear consistent with the item's age. Any item mentioned as sold 'as is' in the listing will not be eligible for any form of return or refund. If it is determined an item is eligible for a return, the item must be shipped back within 48 hours, insured and tracked. A restocking fee may apply. We are very easy to work with and welcome any and many questions during our listings, so please let us know if you have one! Thanks again for looking!
