DELFT Porceleyne Fles KAAGWEEK 1947 Bemanningsprijs (CREW) PRIZE

Offered here is the actual prize awarded to the winning crew members of the Kaagweek race from the year 1947. If you google Kaagweek, you will see that it is a long-standing Dutch Sailing contest. It is held every year and prizes are awarded for the winners. For many years, the prizes were articles produced by De Porceleyne Fles as commemoratives. Prizes were awarded for First Place winners all the way down to 5th Place. In this particular piece, it was the award for the CREW. I have held a large collection of these pieces which I obtained directly from the factory in the early eighties.
This is the 1947 KAAGWEEK dish: it measures 5 3/4" in diameter with a wonderful, detailed border design and scalloped edges. It displays what  looks to be a barrel with a globe on top. This piece is fully signed with the factory signature, the artist and the date code. There is minimal crazing and the piece is in perfect condition.
