    Description

    I have the honor and privilege of selling the collection of an avid and discerning collector of Mauchline Ware consisting of transfer, checker, Parian and tartan ware with a smattering of a few other finishes. I will be listing them in bite size batches over the next several months so that over time collectors can absorb the depth and breadth of the collection. This gentleman amassed an amazing collection of pieces, some of which I have never seen before and I have seen many collectors' collections over the years. This wheelbarrow has a transfer of the Boon Island Lighthouse as well as the Nubble Lighthouse.
    Boon Island Light is located on the 300-by-700-foot Boon Island off the southern coast of Maine, United States, near Cape Neddick. Boon Island Light has the distinction of being the tallest lighthouse in both Maine and New England at 133 feet. The lighthouse has a focal plane at 137 feet above mean high water. T
    he Cape Neddick Light is a lighthouse in Cape Neddick, York, Maine. In 1874 Congress appropriated ,000 to build a light station at the "Nubble" and in 1879 construction began. Cape Neddick Light Station was dedicated by the U.S. Lighthouse Service and put into use in 1879. It is still in use today. I don't claim to know what function this piece may have been intended for, but
    this piece could have been meant to be a child's toy, or a novelty open trinket holder.
    The piece is in overall excellent condition, I see only minimal, if any signs of wear and no serious damage.
    The piece measures approximately  7.5" wide or long, 2.5" tall and 2.75" deep. What a great piece of Americana!! White spots, if any, are camera glare.
