    Description

Check out this rare vintage Maine souvenir felt sewn pennant.  Pennant reads “YORK BEACH MAINE, NUBBLE LIGHT” with an image of the Nubble lighthouse on the coast of York, Maine.  Pennant measures approximately 12 inches long, add 3 inches for the tails.  The condition is very good for a piece of this age, showing expected patina, the screen-painted graphics and lettering still sharp with no cracks or creases.  Although not marked, most of these pennants from this age were made by the ‘Keezer’ company.  Visit my store to see the many vintage pennants I have available.  I am adding more as my time permits.  I discount bundles and shipping, ask me if interested.
Felt pennant and patches represent an era of days gone by.  They are 20th century time capsules
when felt pennants were popular and affordable souvenirs sold near public attractions and sporting events.  The decline in popularity along with rising material and labor costs have rendered them a thing of the past.  They have, however, become popular with collectors.  Good examples like this one are getting harder to find.  Newer pennants, up until they fell out of vogue, don't compare in craftsmanship and materials like this pennant- in other words- they really don’t make them like this anymore.
Although not marked, most of these pennants are from this pennant’s era were made by the ‘Keezer’ company, this is most likely one of them.  Smaller pennants are shipped flat, otherwise all others are carefully rolled-up protected and packed loosely inside a box.
