Description
STUNNING1960 Vintage Wedgwood Black Jasper set in Sterling Silver Brooch/Pin depicting 3 dancing ladies or goddesses. Absolutely gorgeous piece!
The Silver has 3 marks or stamps and initials "FAW" on the inner rim. These stamps have been researched and verified and indicate the jeweler, UK town and year of the piece created.
Marks:
The black Jasper is marked "Wedgewood, Made in England, 60, GF". The 60 refers to the year created and matches the silver marks (see below). I believe the GF is the Jasper artist initials.
Silver stamps
:
1. First Stamp = Lion- used to indicate Sterling .925 Silver.
2. Second Stamp = Crescent (resembles a 3 tine fork) indicates town/area of Chester in UK
3. Third Stamp = "k" indicates year
The crescent and k together indicate the British town of Chester and year 1960 in which the Jasper was set by jeweler into the metal.
The "FAW" refers to F.A. Welch, the Liverpool jeweler who set Wedgwood cameos in precious metals.
