    Description

    A rare cloisonné tile by the Westraven company of Utrecht in good condition.
    This was issued in 1945 to celebrate the Liberation of Holland at the end of the Second World War. It is full of symbolism as you can see. It says “Bezetting 10 mei 1940” whcih refers to the Occupation of Holland in May 1940 and then 5 years later the Liberation, Bevrijding from the 15th of September until the 6th of May 1945. (The official date is actually the 5th of May these days).
    The tile is in good condition but it has a couple of edge nicks on the top whcih you can see in the photos. Well marked to the reverse with the 2 ravens mark of Westraven.
    It measures 5 by 5 inches (13 x 13cm).
